Thirteenth Meeting

Panama, October 22 – 23, 2001

PRESS COMMUNIQUÉ

 

  1. The Thirteenth Meeting of the Committee of Government Representatives on the Participation of Civil Society, took place in Panama from 22 – 23 October, 2001. Representatives of 16 countries attended, some of them also representing their respective sub-regional groups. The countries represented were: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, United States, Uruguay and Venezuela.

  2. During the meeting, the representatives approved the attached agenda and discussed the items listed therein.

  3. Committee approved the third open invitation for civil society contributions, for posting on the official FTAA public web site (http://www.alca-ftaa.org) as of Nov. 1, 2001, and that this invitation would be open and permanent.

  4. The next meeting of the Committee of Government Representatives on the Participation of Civil Society, is scheduled for 29 – 30 November, 2001 in Panama City.
