TENTH MEETING

MIAMI, 13-14 FEBRUARY 2001

The Tenth Meeting of the Committee of Government Representatives on the Participation of Civil Society took place in Miami from February 13-14, 2001, with the participation of representatives from 17 countries, some of whom also represented their respective subregional groups. The countries represented included: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, United States, Uruguay and Venezuela.

During the meeting, the representatives worked on the preparation of the Report to the Ministers Responsible for Trade of the Hemisphere, which includes contributions received from civil society from April 10 to September 30, 2000. This Report will be presented, in the first instance, to the Trade Negotiations Committee, which will hold its next in Buenos Aires from April 3-6, 2001.

The Tenth Meeting of the Committee of Government Representatives on the Participation of Civil Society closed its cycle of meetings held in Miami since the headquarters of the FTAA Secretariat will be transferred to Panama City, Panama, according to plans.
