SIXTH MEETING

MIAMI, AUGUST 21, 2000

PRESS COMMUNIQUÉ

1. The Sixth Meeting of the Committee of Government Representatives on the Participation of Civil Society took place in Miami on August 21, 2000, with the participation of the following countries, some of which were representing their respective subregional groups:

    

2. The Agenda approved for discussion is attached hereto as Annex 1.

    

3. All the items on the Agenda were considered during the Meeting.

    

4. Regarding item 2 of the Agenda: Report on the contributions received, the Committee of Government Representatives, following extensive consideration of the contributions made thus far and the procedures for the submission of contributions, agreed to modify the Work Plan, making it possible to receive contributions from Civil Society bearing a verifiable date of dispatch of September 30, 2000 or before.

    

5. The next meeting of the Committee of Government Representatives on the Participation of Civil Society is scheduled for October 23–24, 2000.
