PROJECT PROFILE
NEGOTIATING GROUP ON MARKET ACCESS
Introduction
Based on the principles, objectives, and general characteristics of the
Hemispheric Cooperation Program, we hereby present the following project profile
with a view to building greater capacity to negotiate and administer the FTAA
Agreement.
- Project title
“Institutional Strengthening”
- Background
This project came about in response to the need for a free flow of communication
with our counterparts at the international level and comprehensive dissemination
of the Free Trade Agreements and Treaties (FTAs) to which we are Party, so as to
achieve coordination with the private sector, academia, and the wider public.
- Rationale
This project will strengthen trade-related communication networks between all
sectors involved at the national and international level.
- Objectives of the Project:
Strengthen the communications network to improve information dissemination and
coordination.
- Inputs: resources needed for the project
Approximate amount US$297,000.00
- Hardware
4 servers (1 for data, 1 web server, 1 for Science and Technology Division, and
another for testing)
Approximate value: USD 6,000 * 5 = USD30,000
With the following features:
933 Mhz or 1 Ghz Processor
256 MB of RAM expandable to 1GB
6 slots for PCI architecture expansion
CD ROM
Backup Unit
This server does not include the monitor; the backup unit should also be
included (battery and stabilizer).

- Expected results
The Ministry of Industry and Trade and its negotiators expect to benefit from
this project once it has been executed, as it will provide all the tools needed
for effective negotiation and for signing agreements and treaties that will
yield benefits for the private sector, academia, and the wider public.
