The Ninth Meeting of the FTAA Negotiating Group on
Government Procurement (NGGP) was held in Miami, Florida from October 11-13,
2000. Delegates from the following countries participated: Argentina, Bahamas,
Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic,
Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad and
Tobago, Uruguay, United States and Venezuela.
The NGGP heard a report on the Barbados meeting of the TNC. It discussed the
procedures to be followed in finalizing its report to the TNC and continued its
agenda by considering the Consolidated Draft Text. It next turned to, among
other items, a common understanding on statistical information systems.
The Tenth Meeting of the NGGP will take place in Miami, Florida, from 20-22
November, 2000.
